I just switched over to e-cigs today, and I can't imagine going back to normal "analog" cigarettes. The FDA needs to get their facts straight. I can't believe that they are making the accusation that e-cigs are unsafe compared to regular cigarettes. It's a money game.

this is crazy. I smoke e-cigs but to compare to coffe is not smart. If you get hooked on Caffine whats the worst that could happen...you start up a Red Bull habit? E-Cigs on the other hand are not proven to be bad for you but they can get you hooked on Nicotine with could lead to smoking real cigs in desperation if you dont have a E-Cig handy. You're confused. An e-cig does not necessarily have to be laced with nicotine. What would the purpose be for consuming nicotine?

Because there's other, known dangerous ways to consume nicotine. If they get addicted from these, they may eventually turn to them.

And you're both right about marketing to kids. FDA-approved products can easily be construed as targeting children, if that's how you want to spin it. Tobacco is certainly already interestering to children. And of course, if e-cigarettes aren't harmful anyway, where's the problem?

Independent studies have already been done. Quite a few actually. There is nothing of any real danger in an e-cigarette. There is however quite a lot of nasty shit in a real cigarette. And those aren't surprising results. Based on the listed ingredients you wouldn't expect an e-cigarette to be harmful, and tests and testimonies show that it's not. Surprise! None of that matters to the FDA, though, since they are obviously not interested in public health.

Most governments around the world get a lot of their taxes through the sales of cigarettes & they complain that smokers are a burden on the health system, E-Cigarettes only have 4 ingredients & none of them are harmful to those who may be around smokers unlike normal tobacco. There are many people who just can't give up smoking so this is a more healthier alternative & that has to be a good thing.

And what if kids are encouraged to smoke them? According to anecdotal evidence they are harmless. Why should we prevent them from consuming it any more than we prevent them from drinking coffee?

The FDA report is a sham. All they wanted to do was smear the reputation of electronic cigarettes in an effort to keep people hooked to the real things. New Zealand did a toxicology report on the electronic cigarette and it was a stark contrast to the ingredients and conclusions to that of the FDA "report". It is about the money, and not about public health. Plain and simple.

GREAT response to the silly FDA's report. They claim the flavored ones are encouraging kids to smoke them? What about all the yummy smelling tobacco that's made? Amen! Why are cigarettes legal if they are so concerned about the Electronic Cigarettes reaching kids? Ban cigarettes forever! they simply do not want people to stop smoking, too much revenue lost. They should be more concerned with children getting their hands on REAL cigarettes..the 4000 chemicals that kill over 400,000 people annually.
